Haitian Earthquake Relief

Many of you know that a massive 7.0 Earthquake hit one of the poorest countries in the world, Haiti. The earthquake hit about 3pm our time on Tuesday afternoon 10 miles from Port-au-Prince, the capital and biggest city, sparking tsunami warnings and big aftershocks. The aftershocks alone in this situation were enough by themselves to cause damage.

A lot of companies have stepped up to help the people of Haiti including the New York Yankees giving $500k, Jolie-Pitt Foundation giving $1 million, Microsoft giing $1.2 million in relief and cash, and the list goes on. So far the biggest cash contributor to this relief has been you, the ordinary person who doesn't have millions sitting in a bank account. Through text messages you can give money to the relief effort. By texting one of the short codes below the company will charge your cell phone bill and that money goes straight to the charity.

$5 - Text "YELE" to 501501 (Wyclef Jean and YĆ©le Haiti)
$10 - Text "Haiti" to 90999 (American Red Cross and mGive)

In addition to the text programs there are local charities sending cash donations to Haiti relief groups:

St. Vincent de Paul - 2610 Montana Ave//Billings, MT 59101-2340 (only cash donations, no food or clothing as they can't be stored)
